The Ice Crisis
I won’t rest until there are decent rehab facilities and support for all those affected by ice.
For the third time in the last six months, I travelled to the southeast of South Australia to build even more momentum to provide desperately needed support for those hooked on ice and their families.
The event was organised with outstanding community advocate Kate Amoroso, the meetings featured Belinda Valentine, the grandmother of Chloe Valentine. Chloe was four-years-old when she died as a result of the criminal neglect of her ice-affected mother and her partner. The meetings were held in Mount Gambier, Millicent and Naracoorte and all were well-attended.
We heard heart-wrenching stories from those directly affected by ice and full credit to the courage of those who came forward to speak out. Kate and Belinda both called for rehab facilities and support in the southeast as well as other measures to empower individuals and communities.
